I've written a science fantasy novel, a suspense novel, and a nonfiction book on national security strategizing.

I was born in Charleston, West Virginia, educated at Gilmour Academy and Santa Clara University, worked in the defense industry on arms control projects and on technology to support national security strategists, and taught university courses on American and European novels and on American movies. I live in California with my wife, Eleanor.

My books pursue the theme of storytelling itself. Nabokov's "the refuge of art" and Didion's "We tell ourselves stories in order to live" are guideposts.
